Overview

Remodeling a house while life goes on inside it

Remodeling is work on a home that already has a life in it. People are living around the project, the existing structure has its own quirks, and every new surface has to meet an old one cleanly. That makes remodeling a different discipline from building new, with more planning before the work starts and more care on site once it does.

At JACCO, bathrooms come first, then kitchens, basements and whole homes. Each project begins at your house, moves to a written bid, settles selections before anything is torn out, and closes with a punch list we walk together. The pages below cover each kind of remodel in depth: what it can include, what shapes the price and how permits are handled.

Bathrooms, kitchens and basements

The rooms that see the most use and the most change. Each page explains what a remodel can include, how layout changes work and what moves the budget.

Whole-home remodeling and choosing a contractor

Where JACCO leads

Primary bathrooms, planned like construction

Bathrooms are JACCO’s lead service, from hall baths to primary suites with soaking tubs, walk-in showers and custom vanities. A bathroom packs plumbing, wiring, waterproofing, tile, cabinetry and glass into one small room, so it rewards a contractor who manages every trade and treats the hidden layers as seriously as the finishes you see.

More remodeling FAQs

Where should we start if we want to remodel several rooms?

Start with the whole list, even if you build it in stages. Planning the kitchen, baths and flooring together lets us sequence plumbing, electrical and floor work so nothing new gets torn out later. Many homeowners then begin with the room that bothers them most, or the one that shares walls and systems with the next phase. We map the phases in writing so each one sets up the next.

How do you keep the house clean during a remodel?

Before demolition, floors and nearby surfaces are covered and the work area is closed off with plastic so dust stays where the work is. Debris leaves the house regularly, tools and materials are kept organized, and the site is cleaned before the crew goes home each day. Clients mention it often in their reviews, and it is a habit we take seriously.

How far ahead should we plan a remodel?

Earlier than most people expect. Design decisions, selections and lead times on cabinets, tile, fixtures and windows can take as long as the construction itself, so starting the conversation well before you want work to begin gives you time to decide without pressure. You can request a consultation at any stage, even while you are still collecting ideas.
