Home Repair
Rot, drywall, trim, doors and the repairs that become apparent mid-project.

Walls, ceilings, trim and cabinets inside; siding, porches and detailed millwork outside. Painted after the repairs and prep that make a finish hold up, with your floors and furniture protected throughout.

A fresh coat of paint reveals everything beneath it. Nail pops, hairline cracks, water stains, peeling trim and drywall patches that were never feathered all stand out more under new paint, not less. That is why the prep is where the real work happens: scraping and sanding, filling and caulking, priming bare wood and stains, and repairing whatever turns up along the way. When the surface is right, the finish coats go on clean and stay that way.
Because JACCO is a general contractor rather than a painting-only crew, repairs do not bring the job to a halt. Soft siding boards, rotted porch trim and damaged drywall are fixed by the same team before the painters begin, so you are not coordinating a carpenter and a painter on your own. On an older home, that might mean replacing a decayed bracket on the porch or reworking water-damaged drywall inside. Known repairs are priced in the bid, and anything discovered later is discussed with you before it is done.
Inside, we cover floors and furniture, mask fixtures and hardware, and keep sanding dust and drips contained. Outside, plantings and walkways are protected and the siding is cleaned before prep begins. Colors and sheens are settled with you up front, and the detail work on porch millwork, built-ins and trim gets the same care as the walls. Painting is also a natural final stage of a whole-home remodel, tying new rooms and old into one finished house.
Interior, exterior or both: each surface is listed in the bid along with the prep and repairs it needs before any paint goes on.
Painted walls, cabinetry and exterior millwork from JACCO renovations, from deep navy to sage green and crisp white trim.
Cracked drywall, rotted trim and failing caulk are fixed first, by the same team, so the new finish is not covering problems that would show through again later.
Floors, furniture and fixtures are covered before work starts, and the work area is cleaned and put back in order at the end of each day so the rest of the house stays livable.
Bathrooms, trim, cabinets and exterior siding each call for a different primer, paint and sheen. We match products to the surface and the conditions rather than using one can for everything.
“I came home and was expecting some mess left over or paint drips, but nothing.”
Site visit, measurements and a written bid tied to a clear scope of work.
Selections settled, materials lined up, a detailed schedule, and a protected, clean home while we build.
We walk the finished work with you and close the project when every item on the list is done.
Before any prep starts, furniture is moved to the middle of the room or out of it and covered, floors are protected with drop cloths or paper, and switch plates, fixtures and hardware are removed or masked. Sanding dust is kept contained, and the work area is cleaned at the end of each day. If there are pieces you would rather move yourself, we plan around them.
Yes, and it is one of the main reasons to hire a general contractor for painting. Cracks, holes, nail pops and water-stained areas are repaired and primed, and damaged trim or siding is replaced before the finish coats. When the prep uncovers something larger, such as rot behind a fascia board, we show you and agree on the repair before continuing.
Exterior paint needs dry surfaces and temperatures within the range the manufacturer specifies, both while it goes on and while it cures. In Middle Tennessee, spring and fall usually bring the most dependable stretches, though summer works with careful timing around heat and storms. We schedule exterior work around the forecast and will move a day rather than paint over damp wood.
Yes, in most cases. We work room by room or area by area so the rest of the house stays usable, and today’s low-odor paints make it easier to live with work in progress. Bedrooms are usually scheduled so you have somewhere to sleep each night. You get a schedule up front showing which rooms are affected on which days.
Surface area matters, but condition and detail matter more. Walls in good shape paint quickly, while peeling exteriors, heavy drywall repair and a change from dark colors to light add prep and extra coats. Ornate trim, spindles and railings take far longer than flat siding, and high ceilings or tall gables need more setup. JACCO prices from a written scope after seeing every surface.
