The kind of company behind the contract

Choosing a contractor is really choosing a company: who answers the phone, who prices the work, who shows up, and who is still accountable when the last invoice is paid. JACCO Builders LLC was formed in 2021 by Jonathon Wilkinson, whose own experience in the trades runs more than 25 years. His interest started early, with backyard forts. His first job after high school was with a family of homebuilders, and working alongside them on houses from foundation to finish taught him every stage, from framing through the final trim.

That background shapes how the company runs. JACCO is owner-led: Jonathon is involved in every project, the hands-on work in carpentry, tile and painting stays with JACCO’s own crew, and licensed partners cover the specialty trades. Even the name is personal: JACCO combines Jonathon’s name with his wife’s and his daughter’s. For a homeowner in Cottontown, that means working with a local company whose owner’s reputation is attached to every job, rather than a franchise or a referral service passing the work along.

The credentials are straightforward to check. JACCO holds Tennessee contractor license #79477 and carries insurance. The company has been BBB accredited since March 31, 2026, holds an A+ rating there with no complaints on file, and averages 5.0 stars across 16 reviews on HomeAdvisor. Every project moves through five stages, from the bid and the schedule through the build and the punch list to the close. Our general contractor services page explains what that covers on a typical project.

More remodeling FAQs

What is the difference between a general contracting company and a remodeling company?

A remodeling company often focuses on finishes inside existing rooms. A general contracting company takes responsibility for the whole construction project, including structural changes, additions, permits, inspections and the coordination of every trade involved. JACCO does remodeling work too, but always as the licensed general contractor, so one company carries the contract and the accountability from bid to close.

Is the first consultation complimentary?

Yes. The first consultation and estimate are complimentary. We visit the property, talk through what you want to accomplish, and note the site conditions likely to drive the scope, from structure and access to how the house is used day to day. For large, design-heavy projects that need drawings or detailed selections before a firm price is possible, we explain up front how that planning stage is handled.

Does JACCO only work in Cottontown?

No. Cottontown is home base, but projects also take JACCO throughout Sumner County and to Franklin, Brentwood and West Nashville. Each area has its own permitting office, from Sumner County and Metro Nashville to the cities of Franklin and Brentwood, and JACCO handles the applications wherever the project is. The full list is on our areas we serve page.
