Upgrades that make a Brentwood house work better and feel current, from stair railings, trim and built-ins to doors, lighting and floors, each one scoped, scheduled and built by a licensed general contractor.

Small changes that update a whole house
Not every worthwhile project is a full remodel. Some of the changes that make the biggest difference are the ones you notice every day: a staircase with dated spindles, hollow interior doors that rattle, a drop zone by the garage that is really a pile of shoes, a family room lit by one overhead fixture. Home improvement work takes those pieces on one at a time or as a group, and it often makes a house feel more current than a single large renovation would.
Brentwood homes from the 1970s through the 2000s carry recognizable details from the decade they went up: oak railings with turned balusters, builder-grade trim and flat-panel doors, honey-toned floors, polished brass lighting and carpet in rooms that would suit wood. None of it is wrong, but it dates a house. Swapping balusters for iron, painting stained trim, moving to solid-core doors, adding built-ins beside a fireplace or carrying hardwood through the main floor can refresh a home without moving a single wall.
JACCO runs these projects with the same structure as a larger remodel. You get a written scope and a schedule, our own carpenters and painters do the work with licensed partners on anything electrical, and the house is protected and cleaned as we go. Grouping several improvements into one project makes better use of every visit, and our home improvement services are built around that kind of list. When the list leans toward trim, railings and built-ins, our custom carpentry team takes the lead.

Planning improvements around a busy household
Most interior improvements, such as railings, trim, doors and built-ins, change neither the structure nor the systems, so they rarely involve a permit. When a list includes new circuits, a moved wall or exterior work, JACCO confirms what the City of Brentwood requires and whether an HOA needs to review the exterior plans, then builds those steps into the schedule. Since you are living in the house, we sequence the work so the rooms you rely on stay usable, protect floors along the paths we use, and let you know ahead of time which spaces will be closed off and when.

Can we do several small projects at once?
Yes, and it is often the most efficient approach. Grouping a railing replacement, new interior doors and trim painting into one project lets the carpenters and painters work in a logical order and keeps setup and cleanup to one stretch instead of several. We write a single scope that covers every item, so you can see the price of each piece and adjust the list before work begins.
Is replacing stair balusters a big job?
It is a focused carpentry project rather than a major one. The old balusters come out, the handrail and treads are checked, and new balusters are set at the required spacing, often with a new handrail and newel posts at the same time. We plan the work so the stairs can be used safely at the end of each day whenever possible. If the treads are being refinished or replaced too, the schedule grows to suit.
