Bathrooms that fit the house they are in

Franklin’s housing runs the full range, and so do its bathrooms. A home near downtown might have a narrow hall bath with plaster walls and plumbing that has been patched for decades. A house in an established subdivision often has a primary bath that is structurally sound but dated, with a large tub nobody uses and a shower that feels like an afterthought. The right remodel starts by understanding which of those you have.

In older homes, that usually means opening walls carefully, updating supply and drain lines while they are exposed, and fitting a modern layout into proportions that suit the house. In newer homes, the work is more often about reclaiming space: turning an unused garden tub into a walk-in shower behind frameless glass, adding a second vanity, or giving the toilet its own water closet.

Either way, JACCO prices the project from a written scope after a site visit, settles selections before demolition, and keeps the rest of your home protected and clean while the bathroom is torn apart. When the room is finished, we walk it with you and work through the punch list before the project closes.

Permits and planning in Franklin

Bathroom remodels inside the City of Franklin that move plumbing, add circuits or change walls generally need a building permit, and JACCO handles the application and the inspections. Franklin’s historic design review generally applies to exterior changes rather than interior rooms, but if your remodel adds a window or alters the outside of a home in one of the historic districts, we check that requirement before the schedule is set.

“JACCO Builders did a fantastic job on my mother-in-law’s bathroom remodel. Communication was great and any issues that arose were dealt with professionally.”

More remodeling FAQs

Is it worth remodeling the bathroom in an older Franklin home?

Usually, yes, and the remodel is often the best chance to deal with what is behind the walls. When the room is opened up, aging supply lines, slow drains and soft subfloor can be corrected at the same time the finishes change, rather than becoming a problem later. We look for those conditions during the site visit so they are in the written scope, not a surprise halfway through.

Can you work around us if this is our only full bathroom?

Yes. Plenty of homes have one full bath that the whole household depends on, and we plan the sequence around it. Selections are made and materials are on hand before demolition, so the room is out of service only as long as the scope requires, and you know the plan day by day.
